Our Genetics

Some of our staple breeding cultivars…

Fall 97

Fall 97 is a cross of Purple Urkle and OG Kush, that has been a staple in our head breeder’s genetics projects for well over a decade due to the vigor, potency, quality of flower, yield, unique terpene profile, and over-all worthiness as a commercial producing strain.

Fall 97 has been the parent of several wildly popular seed offerings including: Axilla, Orange Krush, Reba, Black Eyed Katy, Huckleberry, Mockingbird, and countless others…

While the original Fall 97 cultivar that spawned so many strains in the Colorado market has been lost to the rigors of old age, the genetics have been revived through careful and selective backcrossing and inbreeding over multiple generations, and now over a decade of direct work to get to the current breeding version.

Fall 97 is very vigorous, has a sizeable frame, taller than average with upright branching patterns. She fills in nice dense colas, is absolutely coated in resin, and has an incredibly unique terpene profile that consists of sweet berry notes, a hint of spice, and licorice undertones. She does tend to show purpling in late flower, and this can easily be amplified by ensuring a 20 degree temperature swing from the day to night cycle, just cranking up the volume on anthocyanin production.

Blue Garlic

Want extremely high potency, along with high yields, vigorous growth, and a short flower time? Look no further.

The original Blue Garlic cultivar came to us from a close friend, and given the glowing review passed to us regarding her traits, we went straight to work on getting an inbred line ready to put in to breeding use.

While her exact lineage is unclear, it is rumored to include modern classics such as GMO, Purple Punch, and a classic Lemon OG. While we’d love to know the full story of her lineage, we do know we love the traits she carries.

Blue Garlic regularly tests over 30% THC-A, even at the stingiest of cannabinoid testing labs. She also is a heavy yielder, with a solid sized frame and a natural branching pattern that always fills out the canopy space she’s given.

While we’re just getting started with offering F1 crosses with this ingredient, don’t be surprised to see her regularly appear in future breeding runs.

Stardawg Guava

This is one of the most storied strains out there, with piles of awards to its name. As the story goes, JJ NYC of Top Dawg Seeds acquired a small amount of “Dawg Bud” from a Coloradan that he met on the lot for a Grateful Dead show at Deer Creek Amphitheatre. From this chance meeting came one of the most storied lineages in cannabis history. A few seeds found in this “Dawg Bud” were germinated, and became the strains we all now know as “Chemdawg”, “Chem4”, and “Chem’s Sister”.

JJ took the Chemdawg,  crossed it with a vigorous Afghani #1 male, the resulting F1 was then backcrossed to the Chemdawg to create Double Dawg (BX1). Double Dawg was once again backcrossed to the Chemdawg to create “Tres Dawg” (BX2). The Tres Dawg, was then crossed with Chem #4 to create the strain known as “Stardawg”.

The “Guava” phenotype of Stardawg is one that displayed a unique fermented fruit aroma, along with the classic fuel of the entire Dawg Bud lineage.

Our head breeder has won a Cannabis Cup with this Stardawg Guava and worked with it both as a raw breeding ingredient, and also backcrossing it, and inbreeding it to produce a true breeding ingredient that is homozygous for its critical and defining traits. This one really has the “Midas Touch”, with everything it touches turning to gold.

Blueberry Headband

This monstrous yielding hybrid is akin to the “mortgage lifter” tomato – with vigor and yield far in excess of the average cultivar. She’s always the fastest growing plant in veg, and produces piles of dense resinous flowers, with an extremely high flower to leaf ratio.

While the exact lineage of the original breeding cultivar are somewhat unknown, they are rumored to include some combination of classics such as Bubba Kush, Cali Sour D, OG Kush, and Blueberry ’76.

The dominant notes in the terpene profile are sweet berry and fuel.

Our current breeding cultivar has been backcrossed and inbred over multiple generations to ensure the critical traits we love from her are true breeding. These defining traits include extremely high vigor and growth rate, a gargantuan frame, quick flower time, high resin production, and an extremely high flower to leaf ratio that makes trimming and processing a breeze.
